What Energy Class Is Your Home?
Estimate your building's energy class in two minutes — from A+ to H, just like on the official energy certificate.
How Is the Energy Class Calculated?
The calculator estimates your building's final energy demand in kWh per square meter per year: starting from a typical benchmark for your building's age class, corrected for the renovation state of roof, facade and windows and the efficiency of your heating system. The result is mapped to classes A+ to H using the official thresholds of the German Building Energy Act (GEG, Annex 10) — the same scale as on the energy certificate.
Important: this is a rough guide, not a substitute for the official certificate. When selling or renting, an energy certificate under the GEG is mandatory — as certified energy consultants, we issue it for you.
How accurate is the estimated class?
For typical residential buildings the estimate usually hits the right class or its direct neighbor — that's why we show a range. Only the full calculation for the official certificate yields the exact value.
What's the difference between demand-based and consumption-based certificates?
The demand-based certificate calculates theoretical demand from the building fabric — like this calculator, but precisely. The consumption-based one uses the last three years of heating bills. Read more in our blog article on energy certificates.
When do I need the official certificate?
It is legally required when selling, renting or leasing a property. Many subsidy applications also require the current energy status. Just get in touch.
